For studying in Germany, international students will have to show €11,904 in their blocked bank account. The amount has been increased from €11,208 which shows the inflation impacts on daily life needs in the federal republic.
Many German missions have announced these details which will take effect from September this year. As per the German embassy in India, international students will have to show that they have €11,904 annually (€992 monthly)to cover their health insurance, living costs, and semester contribution fees.
Till the implementation of the new regulations, students can still show the currently implemented amount proof (€11,208). Depending on the visa issuance, the embassy may ask them to show the newly implemented amount in the blocked bank account. After the new regulations are implemented, a year visa will be issued to the students.
What is a blocked account?
International students have to show that they have enough funds to prove their living costs in Germany. This means before submitting their visa application, they must also provide proof of €11,208 till September, and from September €11,904 kept in their personal blocked bank account. After getting the visa, the students have to transfer this amount to the German bank account. They then can receive €992 monthly to bear the living cost, rent of accommodation, health insurance, study material, and other traveling costs.
