Prince Edward Island (Canada) Critical Worker Visa Stream

Now Critical Workers have the opportunity to obtain Permanent Residency of Prince Edward island (PEI). If you are recently working in Province Edward Island (PEI) and you want to obtain permanent residency you will apply through this stream, it is the Critical Workers stream.

The candidate now can apply for a nomination for permanent residency via the Critical Worker stream of the Prince Edward Island’s Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). For this stream, it is important for the applicant that he should be an employee in PEI. This stream is employer-driven, giving permission to Island employers to fill Intermediate skilled positions that they are unable to fill in the local job market.

Trucking Sector Pilot: Effective June 2019, the Critical Worker Stream may be utilized for talent recruitment outside of Canada for approved Prince Edward Island trucking sector employers. With approval, a work permit support letter would be provided for the applicant. For additional

Eligibility Criteria   

  • You are between 18 to 59 years old
  • The applicant must have a full-time long-term job offer from a PEI employer in National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B. As for as your job offer is concerned, there are some conditions for your employer, he should obtain authorization from PEI’s office prior to submitting an expression of interest profile
  • You have In the recent past five years minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Applicant must demonstrate an intention to reside in PEI
  • You have obtained a post-secondary degree or diploma with at least a two-year program
  • You have enough financial support to bear all the expenses in Canada.
  • Candidates need to prove that they have enough language proficiency in English or French to be able to perform their job duties

Language ability will be verified by one of the following:

  • A language exam from an IRCC authorized testing institute within the past 24 months with at least points of CLB/NCLC 4 or
  • PEIW-02 Workforce Job Offer Form Indicates that the employer agrees that employees must be proficient in English and/or French in order to perform job-related tasks

NOC-C Initiative: Effective June 2019, the Critical Worker Stream may be utilized for talent recruitment outside of Prince Edward Island. The Office will only approve the use of the NOC-C Initiative for individuals working in defined Priority Employment Sectors in Prince Edward Island. Candidates for NOC-C are required to have 6 months of Canadian work experience that was gained while on an LMIA-backed work permit and be relevant to the current position the individual is offered in PEI. Application process

First of all, you need to check the eligibility criteria, if you meet it the next step is making a profile for this stream. You will create a profile in the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system. For profile creation you will need to provide:

  • Your email address
  • Your identification
  • Your passport details

If your account has been verified, you can move to complete your profile. Candidates will only have one active profile at any one time. After registration, the further step is your invitation to apply. When you are invited to apply, you will be sent an email. In this email, you will find your profile number and guidelines for the submission of your application. When you have obtained an invitation to apply, you will need to complete the online forms.

Profile expiry/profile changes

The profile expires after six months of activation. As for as changes in your profile are concerned, yes you can also do changes in your profile. If your case situation changes prior to being invited to apply, you can add or delete information in your profile. If your case situation changes after being invited to apply, you will contact authorities with updated information, this may affect the decision of your file.

If you are selected to be nominated by PEI, you must accept online nominations through your MyCIC account. After being invited to apply by the IRCC, you must submit an electronic application for permanent residence through your MyCIC account with all supporting documents and fees. The IRCC is responsible for deciding all applications for permanent residence.

Application fee

When you create your profile, it means you are showing your Expression of interest. Profile creation is free of cost. But when you are selected to apply for nomination by Prince Edward Island, you will pay CAD $ 300 (non-refundable). You will submit this fee online with your application. You should have an arrangement of a debit or credit card for the payment.

What is next after nomination?

When you receive a nomination, you should submit your application for permanent residency to IRCC along with your nomination certificate. Authorities will determine your application for your capability. Any changes you made in your profile/ application you will need to tell the authorities about these changes. these changes can be in the fields of :

  • Your contact information
  • You employment
  • Your family status

Updating in your education/experience you will need to work with a single employer until you obtain your permanent residence. If any changes are made after nomination, you will notify the office of immigration and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada on the spot.

Your online application will be received by the Office as soon as you click submit and you will receive a secure link to upload your supporting documents within two business days of your submission. Once all of your scanned documents are uploaded, your application is considered complete and will begin processing. The application fee is $300 CAD.

Supporting documents instructions

All supporting documents must be provided as one combined portable document format (PDF) file.

• documents with images should be scanned in color;

• text-only documents may be scanned at a grayscale setting to reduce file size;

• scanner resolution should be a minimum of 300 dots per inch;

• no enhancement or editing should be done to a scanned document;

• the total size of the document should be no more than 50 megabytes (MB); and

• the file name of your attachment must be no more than 50 characters.
