Germany Vocational Training Visa, its requirements, and procedure.

Undoubtedly, Germany has a lot of scope for those who want to migrate to Germany for vocational training. Germany has a special visa application process for vocational training. The greatest approach to getting ready for the German labor market is through vocational training, which in Germany offers up several doors. You have the choice of completing vocational training at a school or an employer. A residence title in line with Section 16a of the Residence Act – AufenthG may be necessary in both situations.

For company-based training programs, the following steps are important:

  • you will be required to obtain the approval of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) as part of the visa procedure.
  • the Federal Employment Agency (BA) will assess whether you can be employed under the same conditions as German apprentices. This is an internal agency procedure. You do not need to do anything.
  • moreover, the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) will assess whether any applicants from Germany or the EU are to be given priority concerning obtaining a training position (priority check).

What conditions must be met to be granted a visa for vocational training?

Many different requirements must be met to apply for a training visa of Germany which are as follows:

  • The candidate has an invitation to apply from a German school or a company in a training-based program;
  • He/she has the language proficiency needed for the appropriate vocational training. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a minimum level of B1 is typically necessary. This is applicable if he hasn’t finished his German language course or if the training facility hasn’t tested his/her language abilities;
  • For the most part, this implies that he must show proof of having at least 903.00 Euros a month (as of 2023) available to meet his living expenses for the duration of his stay;
  • He/she can create a blocked account or submit a statement of commitment as proof that he can afford to pay his living expenses if he intends to participate in a school-based training program;
  • He/she will receive training pay if he intends to participate in a company-based training program, and this salary is also taken into account as proof;
  • If his training wage is insufficient, he may make up the gap by demonstrating that he has a blocked account or a declaration.

Benefits of Vocational Training Visa

A relevant residence permit is given for the period of the training program in question to complete school-based or workplace-based training. In Germany, qualified training programs are typically completed in 24 months. The applicant is permitted to work a maximum of 10 hours per week of secondary employment outside of his training program if he has a residence visa to finish a recognized vocational training program. He is permitted to stay in Germany for up to an additional year after completing his vocational training to find employment that is related to his training program. A residency permit as defined by Section 20 (3) No. 3 of the Residency Act – AufenthG is necessary for this purpose.

The candidate has the right to work in any capacity to support his living expenses while looking for a job in Germany. He can apply for a residence permit for qualified employment (Section 18a on the Residence Act – AufenthG) as soon as he has found a job for which he is qualified without having to leave Germany.
