Which job or occupation sectors are eligible under the newly announced immigration programs of Canada? Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship has introduced a new temporary public policy that will allow 90,000 temporary foreign workers to apply for permanent residency. The essential workers, international student graduates, and French speakers will be able to apply under the stream through 6 PR programs. The French speakers have happy news as no quota has been in place for them.
The following are the 6 new programs (starting on May 6) under the announced public policy:
- International student graduates (40,000 applications allowed)
- Essential workers in healthcare (20,000 applications allowed)
- Essential workers in other occupations (30,000 applications allowed)
- French-speaking international student graduates (unlimited applications allowed)
- French-speaking essential workers in healthcare (unlimited applications allowed)
- French-speaking essential workers in other occupations (unlimited applications allowed)
The new announcement has set the fire on and many are willing to avail of this opportunity as soon as possible. The main question that arises to mind is which job or occupation sectors are eligible for this new immigration policy. The eligible jobs or occupation sectors are limited are not open at all. There are 40 eligible healthcare occupations, plus an additional 95 eligible occupations other essential workers across a range of industries such as construction, agriculture, and sales.
The work experience that is mandatory to show has the following requirements:
- At least one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time experience (1,560 hours), in Canada, in an eligible occupation listed in Annex A or Annex B in the three years preceding the date when the application for permanent residence is received.
The one year of work experience must be obtained in one or more of the eligible occupations as follows:
- Stream A: the one year of work experience must have been acquired in one or more occupations listed in Annex A. Experience cannot be combined with Annex B occupations.
- Stream B: the one year of work experience must have been acquired in one or more occupations listed in Annex B, or a combination of occupations in Annexes A and B.
