Yukon province has started its Yukon community pilot program for the time period of 3 years (2020-2022). Through this new program, foreign nationals will be able to stay and work in Yukon on permanent residency and open work permit.
The program works as under:
Step one
International mobility program – Open work permit (location restricted, mainly only in six set aside territories)
Step two
Permanent residency program (one can apply for it after reaching Yukon between 3 to 6 months) Currently, only the following six communities are eligible for the Yukon community pilot:
- Carcross
- Carmacks
- Dawson City
- Haines Junction
- Watson Lake
- Whitehorse
