Ever since Ontario has adapted the new nomination system, many ask about how many provincial nominations will Ontario issue in 2021?
There are many Canadian provinces that issue a specific number of provincial nominations every year. Ontario is one of these and perhaps is the most popular Canadian province because of its diversity and opportunities for immigrants.
The Federal Government of Canada allows 11 specific provinces to nominate young talent outside the country to come and consume their talent because 50% of the Canadian population has been aged. So the Government of Canada decided to bring young people from over 200 countries in the world to speak 125 different languages.
Ontario immigration Nominations Program (OINP)
The Federal Government of Canada permitting Ontario to issue 8,350 nominations in 2021, and additional 250 nominations for temporary foreign workers with minimum National Occupational Classification (NOC) skilled level. Despite the covid 19 first wave in 2019, Ontario issued 7,391 nominations, and 8,054 in 2020 when the whole world was shut off. According to the immigration minister, Vic Fedeli, Ontario will issue 13,300 nominations in 2022, because Ontario Immigrants Nominations Program (OINP) is developing by leaps and bounds.
OINP Categories
Every province of Canada has a different immigration system to balance the economy of the state as Ontario, there are three main categories in the Ontario immigration Nominations Program (OINP):
- Employer Job Offer
- Business Category
- Human Capital priorities
1- Employer Job Offer and OINP
There are three subcategoriesin this stream:
- Foreign Workers
- In-Demand Skills
- International Students
The applicants of these three streams must have a job offer. The Employees of firs two streams must demonstrate that reasonable efforts were made to recruit a Canadian citizen, PR prior to offering the position to the particular applicant, but for the international student stream there is no such condition. For foreign workers and in demand skills stream required an experience of 2 years and 9 months respectively with minimum 4 CLB language proficiency for in demand skills stream. There is Canadian degree or diploma required for International Students stream.
2- Business Category and OINP
Business Category has only one stream “OINP entrepreneur Stream”. The Entrepreneur Stream is an immigration stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). This stream is for entrepreneurs from outside of Canada interested in starting a new business or buying an existing business in Ontario. It gives an entrepreneur (and up to one foreign national business partner) the opportunity to be nominated for permanent residence once their business has been established in Ontario. If you are nominated, the next step will be to apply to the federal government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). They make the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident. There are some Mandatory Requirements to apply in OINP entrepreneur Stream . You should have at least 2 years of business experience as a business manager in the last 5 years and net wealth should be $400,000 (CDN).
3- Express Entry and OINP
Human capital priorities enable foreign workers with the required skilled work experience, language abilities like French, English, and education the opportunity to apply to permanent residency and work in Ontario. You must have a valid profile in Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) Express Entry system and receive a Notification of Interest from Ontario before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence. If you are nominated, your next step is to apply to the federal government through IRCC. The Federal Government makes the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.
Express Entry Master Graduates Stream
It gives graduated international students with an Ontario master’s degree. They get opportunity to apply for a nomination from the OINP to permanently live and work in Ontario.
Express Entry PhD Graduate Stream
International graduates with an Ontario Ph.D. degree will be eligible to apply for a nomination from the Ontario Immigration Nomination Program (OINP) to permanently live and work in Ontario.
Ontario French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
French-speaking skilled workers with strong English language abilities with minimum 6CLB Language Proficiency get the opportunity to apply for permanent residence and work in Ontario.
Express Entry Human capital priorities
Ontario has issued NOIs to eligible candidates on an intermittent basis. However, the province has also on occasion tweaked its own eligibility criteria in order to select certain candidates. In July 2019, Ontario announced tech-specific draws to the Human Capital Priorities stream. These draws target tech workers. Successful applicants to the Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream receive 600 additional CRS points, followed by an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Express Entry Skilled Trade Stream
Foreign nationals with Ontario work experience in eligible skilled trades the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario.
