Schengen Visa of Romania, Procedure, Price, and Requirements

Romania enjoys a Schengen country status now. It is now a part of 29 Schengen travel zone countries. It now from 1 April 2024 issues Schengen visas to those who want to travel the country for single, double, or multiple entry visas. Schengen visa allows its bearer to travel through 29 Schengen countries without control.

Types of Schengen Visas in Romania

There may be many reasons of your tour to Romania. It is important to know these as at the time of applying you must also include the specific documents related to your visa category. The normal Schengen visa is of a validity of 90 days. It is also called type “C” visa. Following could be the main visa reasons to apply for this visa:

Airport Transit Visa

“A” category means airport Transit Visa. Airport Transit Visa is allowed to travel in the international zone of Schengen country airport without entering the Schengen area. “A” category visas are required for citizens traveling from one non-Schengen state to another by changing flights at Schengen country’s airports.

Tourism

You want to do sightseeing in the country or other Schengen countries too. You must show a hotel reservation and a return ticket booking. If you are invitedby someone, you should also include the invitation docuements.

Visit

This visa is for visiting family and friends. A personal invitation is required from these people from Romania.

Business

You must show that you have business ties with the invitee. You should also show the invitation from them and where you will be staying during your period of stay.

Sport activities

Invitation from sport even body is required.

Cultural activities

Invitation from cultural event body is required.

Medical treatment

Documentation from hospital are required. A letter from doctor or checkup appointments.

Requirements of the Romanian Schengen Visa

You must show the visa office that you fulfill certain requirements to get the Schengen visa. You should have proper travel itinerary, plan of the whole visit, financial resources, and invitation from Romanian host if any. You must also leave Romania at the end of your proposed visit. You should only apply for the Schengen visa of Romania if it is your main destinatination or you will be spending most of the time of your proposed visit in this country.

Category-wise Required Documents

Personal documents

  • Letter of invitation from your host in Romania (if required),
  • Personal passport with more than 6 months of expiry duration,
  • Visa application form,
  • Passport-sized photographs with white background,
  • In support of an application for a short-term or travel visa, applicants must show that they have adequate and valid individual or group Travel Medical Insurance, the minimum coverage is €30,000 for the intended period of stay,
  • Family details if married and have children.

Trip documents

  • Accommodation proof for an intended stay in Romania such as Hotel booking,
  • Cover letter mentioning your full details of the planned trip,
  • Any reservations that you have made for your other visits during your stay in Romania,
  • Return ticket reservation proof.

Personal Financial documents

One must prove for getting a Schengen visa that he/she can bear the cost of a return visit to and from Romania. This is preferably your resources and in some cases, a sponsor can also bear the expenses. It depends on your conditions such as: how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with relatives or friends. Following are some of the ways you can prove your financial circumstances:

  • Complete details of your personal or sponsored financial status,
  • Job confirmation letter in case you work full or part-time,
  • Salary slips of the last six months (optional but extremely important),
  • Bank bank statements,
  • Any traveler’s cheques or bonds,
  • Holidays approval letter from your employer,
  • Income tax returns of previous years (options but important),
  • Business details if you are self-employed,
  • Business registration certificate,
  • Details of tax your company or business entity pays,
  • National tax number,
  • Any agreement details if the business is divided into partners,
  • Visiting card with details of business email and contact numbers,
  • In case you get the visa, who will bear your responsibilities in your absence,
  • Business and personal bank statements,
  • Other income sources.

Country of origin Ties documents

Country ties are very important to get a visa to Romania. You must present the visa office proof that you can and should return to the country of origin when your intended visit ends. For single people, any property proofs, job, or studies bonding. For married people, marriage registration certificates and children’s birth certificates. This means you should be able to convince the immigration service officer that you will leave Romania at the end of your trip, Convince the immigration officer that you have a relationship – such as a job, home, financial assets, or family that will take you back to your country.
