More professionals will be able to immigrate to Australia through New South Wales’s immigration changes. NSW has extended its skilled occupation list with ten new professions for permanent visa sub-class 190. With this addition, New South Wales has a total of 40 occupations now
New South Wales is a southeastern Australian state distinguished from coastal cities and national parks. Sydney, its capital, is home to famous structures such as the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge.
According to some immigration experts, this is good news for people who are searching pathway for permanent residency in subclass 190. Before this, they had not added engineering occupations to their list. Most of the occupations were from the medical and IT fields. Now they have included the engineering occupation too. Which is great news for all those candidates who choose this track over a regional visa which is temporary.

The NSW government has revealed that it has received the final nomination for the financial year 20-21 from the Home Department. This year, a total of 6,350 places have been allocated to the state of New South Wales. NSW is one of the few states that has acquired more seats than its allotted quantity in the previous year. There are about 600 more than its quota in 2019-20, which is a sign of the state’s needs for workers in key areas of the state, health, information and computer technology, and engineering.

- your employer’s ABN and contact details
- expression of Interest number for SkillSelect
- candidates name, date of birth, and email address
- the skilled visa you are seeking Victorian nomination for (subclass 190 or 491)
- the purpose of your employer’s business or service
The Australian government has already announced its new immigration quota. The program is set annually, with the total places available capped at a ceiling of 160,000 for 2020-21.
Highlights of 2020-2021 immigration program
The Australian government has planned:
- Significant increases in family visa locations from 47,732 to 77,300, including 72,300 partner visas (then mainly beaches)
- English language required for partner visa applicants and additional sponsorship responsibilities
- Focus on the cost of the Scale Select Free Visa Program on Special, New Global Talent (GT) and Business Investment and Innovation Program (BIIP)
- Visa application fee waivers and refunds for people with temporary visas and those infected with the Coronavirus epidemic
- Second TGV option for those international students who have lived and acquired a degree in regional Australia.
- Foreign farmers with an age of maximum 50 and an IELTS score of 5 will be able to apply for a farmworker visa through the sponsor’s nomination which will give them a 4 years visa.
- Togher rules have been introduced (mostly implemented from July 2021) for business visa categories by reducing these from 9 to only 4
