Step-by-Step Guide Australia Immi App
To complete your identity check in the Australia Immi App, you need to follow each step in order. Below is a simple guide to help you understand the process more easily.
| Steps | What You Need to Do | Important Details |
| Step 1 | Provide your Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) | Your VLN is written on the Requirement to provide personal identifiers (biometrics) letter. It starts with AUI and includes letters and numbers. You can either scan the barcode on the letter or enter the code manually. If you are completing identity checks for family members, each person will have a different VLN, so make sure you enter the correct one for each applicant. |
| Step 2 | Scan your passport data page and chip | Before you start, switch on NFC in your phone settings. Then remove any phone cover or wallet case. Open your passport to the personal data page and place your phone over it. Make sure your fingers do not block the camera and avoid glare, reflection, or shadows. The red outline will turn green when the passport is positioned correctly. The scan must capture the full page, including the two lines of letters and numbers at the bottom. If your passport has a chip, place your device directly on top of the passport cover where the chip is located. Move the phone slowly until the app detects it. Once scanning begins, keep the phone still until the process is complete. |
| Step 3 | Confirm your passport information | After scanning, the app will show the information collected from your passport. Carefully check all details and make sure they match your passport exactly. If anything is wrong, you will need to scan the passport again. |
| Step 4 | Take your photo | You must take a clear photo of yourself during the identity check. Stand in front of a light-coloured wall with no objects in the background. Position your face inside the oval shown on the screen. Look straight at the camera with your eyes open and visible. Remove glasses if possible, avoid shadows on your face, and make sure nothing covers your face or eyes. No other people or objects should appear in the photo. When your face is in the correct position, the red oval will turn green and the photo will be taken automatically. You can review the photo and retake it if needed. If you still cannot provide a suitable photo after several attempts, check your biometrics letter for instructions on visiting an ABCC. |
| Step 5 | Submit your identity check | Once all steps are complete, submit your identity check through the app. If you want a confirmation email, enter your email address in the field provided before submitting. After submission, the app sends your passport details and facial images to the Department of Home Affairs. The app does not store your data after submission. If there is an error and the information is not sent successfully, the app will ask you to capture the information again. If your submission is successful, you will see a final confirmation screen. In that case, you do not need to attend an ABCC unless the department contacts you for more information. |
