Australian visa fees have been increased by the immigration department for many subclass categories effective from 1 July. The included visa streams are Temporary skill shortage visa (short and long term streams), Employer nomination scheme visa. Furthermore, citizenship fee has also been increased.
The visa application charge (VAC) is a fee in Australian dollars (AUD) for a visa application, which is also sometimes waived. It’s usually paid in two instalments:
- First installment: Paid when applying for the visa.
- Second installment: Paid before the visa is granted (if required, the applicant is informed).
If your visa requires a sponsor or nominator, they may need to pay additional fees.

Increase in Citizenship Fee
Citizenship application fee in Australia has changed from 1 July 2024. Applicants will have to pay a standard fee of AUD 560 as standard fee against general eligibility. Increase in Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold
Effective 1 July 2024, Australia raised the Temporary Skilled Migration Income (TSMI) threshold from AUD70,000 to AUD73,150. The new nomination applicants must meet the TSMI threshold or annul market salary rate whichever is higher. Complete details can be accessed here.
