Finally, IRCC releases the good news of 2021. Canadian citizens and permanent residents will get 30,000 invitations to sponsor their parents and grandparents. From 23 September to 7 October, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will issue these invitations.
The candidates who submitted their application in last year’s program and did not consider will be included in these 30,000 lucky contestants. There is a reminder for those candidates by IRCC who participated last year to modify their previous details (especially contact details) of the application on the website.
Successful candidates, who are parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and percent residents, will directly get PR status and they can enjoy straight away social benefits. After getting the invitations, the sponsors will have 60 days to apply.
The candidates who do not get an invitation to sponsor their parents and grandparents can have another visa called”Super Visa”. This allowed their parents and grandparents to apply for this 10 years multiple entry visa.
Important factors to be eligible for the PGP for Canadian applicants
- The detailed information of criteria on the PGP website must be fulfilled by the applicants;
The applicant must be:
- Minimum of 18 years old;
- Permanent citizen of Canada;
- Assured of the authentic source to assist the parents and grandparents, he/she is inviting.
- The applicants will first make a framework of all expenses according to income and will estimate that he/she can afford them or not. The applicant will give a verification of the salary to prove that he can afford all the expenditures of his/her parents and grandparents;
- The applicant must have to fulfill the criteria of “Minimum Necessary Income” (MNI). This is made mandatory by authorities, without it the application will be rejected. The IRCC will examine all the data of the MNI of the applicant of the previous 3 years 2018, 2019, and 2020;
- Due to the COVID-19, the applicants will be given exemptions for the MNI criteria. The exemption is that their MNI tax record will be checked for the year 2020. The applicants can also add up the facilities for Employment Insurance (EI) and Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) in their MNI tax for 2020;
- The Canadian applicants will have to provide proof of income to support their parents and grandparents for the 3 years;
- After getting the stats of permanent residence for their parents and grandparents, the Canadian applicants will support them financially for a minimum of 10 years.
Important factors to be eligible for the PGP for Quebec applicants
If the applicant is non-Canadian, a citizen of Quebec must have to fulfill this criterion:
- The non-Canadian, residents of Quebec applicants and their co-signers will have to submit the letter of assessment from the “Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)” for the previous 3 years mentioned above;
- The applicants of Quebec and their co-signers will have to provide the proof of the income for the support of their parents and grandparents of just 1 year;
- Quebec applicants must have their salary assessed by Quebec’s Immigration Ministry based on the criteria of province salary;
- The Quebec authorities and IRCC will verify this from the Quebec applicants that for how much time they can afford the expenditures of their parents and grandparent;
- After getting the stats of permanent residence for their parents and grandparents, the applicants of Quebec will support them financially for a minimum of 10 years.
