Canadian Province Quebec Require Nurses from Abroad

The health network is seeking to recruit an unprecedented number of nurses abroad. Recruitment sessions in Europe are scheduled until June in order to attract at least 1,700 nurses and more than 200 patient attendants to Quebec. This is five times more than two years ago.

Until fall 2020, the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal was not used to recruiting so many nurses abroad.

According to the latest statistical report, 7.4% of the 73,000 nurses in Quebec were trained outside the province. This figure has been steadily increasing since 2015 (5.7%).

It must be said that nurses have been so solicited since the start of the pandemic that they have been more to resign or to retire across Quebec.

In the north of Montreal, the CIUSSS is therefore seeking to recruit at least 300 nurses abroad.

The CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal is not the only establishment that wants to recruit from abroad.

Two-thirds of the needs are found in the greater Montreal area.In November 2018, RSQ Recrutement santé Québec had the mandate of 14 establishments to recruit 333 nurses.

Health Quebec Recruitment ( RSQ Health Quebec Recruitment) is the ministry’s official recruiter for health and social service professionals who have graduated outside of Canada.
