DV Lottery 2026 Results: How to apply for US Immigrant Visa After Getting Selected?

Since the DV Lottery 2026 Results have been online from May 3, 2025, you can see your selection status if you have been selected for the Green Card/Immigrant Visa or not.

As per the instructions of the State Department, the successful candidates will not be sent email confirmations, instead, each candidate must check through the application portal if they have been selected.

Please note that the overall quota set aside for the Diversity Visa Program 2026 is 55,000 from eligible countries. The selection is made on a random basis if you qualify according to the given eligibility criteria.

If you have not been selected, you cannot appeal against the decision of the lottery or random selection process. The initial registration period for this visa program was set from October 2, 2024, to November 7, 2024 (Noon EST). This means that applying for the selection process of the DV Lottery 2026 is no longer possible.

How do you check the DV Lottery 2026 Results?

How to Apply for the Immigrant Visa After Getting Selected for the DV Lottery 2026?

1. Submit the DS-260 Visa Application

Once your status shows as “selected” on the online portal, you can begin the immigrant visa process. Log in to your account and access the DS-260 form, which must be completed for each family member applying with you.

If your family situation has changed—for example, if a child was born—you must update this information in the DS-260 application. After filling out the form:

  • Sign and submit it online.
  • On the final page, enter your case number without leading zeros to validate the submission.
  • Print the confirmation page and bring it to your visa interview.

Your DS-260 form is submitted directly to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). However, KCC does not decide who qualifies for a visa. Only the U.S. consular officer at the embassy will determine eligibility.

If you need to contact the KCC, email them at KCCDV@state.gov. Always include your case number or entrant number in the message.

2. Submitting Supporting Documents

Supporting documents cannot be submitted with the visa application form. You will receive instructions from KCC via the online portal on how and when to upload them. The required documents typically include:

  • Educational qualifications
  • Passport copies
  • Work experience documents (if used in place of education)
  • Proof of family relationships

Note: All documents not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.

3. Schedule a Medical Examination

Before your interview, you must schedule a medical exam with a panel physician authorized by the U.S. embassy or consulate where your interview will be held.

  • The physician will provide your medical results in a sealed envelope
  • Do not open this envelope—bring it with you to your visa interview

4. Pay the Visa Fee

Visa fee payment procedures vary by country. You will receive country-specific instructions after submitting your DS-260 (for most countries, it is set at $330.00). In some cases, fees are paid before the interview, while in others, they are paid at the embassy on the day of the interview.

5. Attend the Visa Interview

After submitting your visa application and supporting documents, you will be scheduled for an interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate you selected in your application.

This means you will receive a notification letter with your interview details. Print this and bring it with you. All family members applying for a visa must attend the interview.

Required Documents for the Interview:

  • Interview appointment letter
  • DS-260 confirmation page
  • Valid passport(s) (valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended U.S. entry date)
  • Original or certified copies of:
    • Birth certificates
    • Marriage certificates
    • Police clearance certificates
    • Other civil documents as applicable

During the interview, a visa officer will assess your eligibility and collect biometric information (fingerprints).

6. Visa Decision and Next Steps

At the end of the interview, the officer will inform you of the decision:

  • Approved: You will be told when and how your passport with the Diversity Visa will be returned. Plan to travel to the U.S. as soon as possible after receiving your visa.
  • Denied or Pending: You’ll be notified if your visa is denied or requires additional administrative processing. Processing times may vary by case.

Final Tip

Stay updated through the official visa portal and regularly check for emails from KCC. Accurate and timely responses to requests can significantly improve your chances of a smooth visa process.
