Asylum seekers are continuing to reach European member states in great numbers even travel restrictions are imposed. According to a report published by the German newspaper, “Welt am Sonntag” with reference to EASO, A total of 194,808 applications were submitted in the EU plus Switzerland and Norway.
With 47,231 new asylum applications in the first six months of this year, Germany is the leading Asylum seeker recipient in the EU. The other countries receive these as follows:

Germany leads the way with a big margin. In the country, between January and the end of June 2021, about 47,231 new asylum applications were submitted. According to the document, 36 percent of applicants in Germany are Syrians, followed by Afghans (18 percent) and Iraqis (6.6 percent). The report refers to previously unpublished figures from the EU asylum authority EASO. Even though the figures make it clear that asylum applications were made more than twice as often in Germany than in Italy, it still demands that Germany should take refugees from it.

EU’s management for increasing migration flow
The volume of global migration has been increasing for the last 5 decades, and this trend is expected to continue. Measures to control the flow of migration are needed within the EU and on its external borders, as well as outside its territory. The European Union should cooperate with its partners. The EU is committed to helping address these root causes of uncontrolled migration to third countries. Required measures include improving future prospects in a local context, tackling climate change, and ending youth unemployment.
2.5 Million Schengen Visas issued by European Countries Last Year
Last year has been not that significant for travelers to Schengen countries where only 3 million short-stay C-type visa applications were submitted in the member states’ consulates and embassies abroad. The visa issued to third countries nationals was 2.5 million (exactly 2.489.146 which is 83% less than of 2019). The statistics have been issued by European Commission in May for 2020. The ratio is extremely lower than of 2019 where 17 million visa applications were submitted in member states.
