Italy announces seasonal worker visas under Decreto Flussi 2024

The Italian government has announced 89,050 new seasonal worker visas for 2024. This visa is normally of 9 months in validity and counts under Long Term D residence permit. Interested applicants with the help of employers can apply for this visa from 25 March 2024 online. Italy every year announces immigration policy to recruit foreign workers for seasonal and nonseasonal visas for its labor market. The ongoing year is also part of the years Decreto Flussi program 2023-2025 where the Italian government first time decided to issue a quota for a three-year term.

Most of the quota (41,000) has been set aside this year for the Agricultural sector. Whereas 31,000 for the Tourism sector alone. For both these categories, only candidates from eligible countries can apply visa for.

Fast Track processing for seasonal workers’ pre-enrollment

In the implementation of the latest regulatory changes, after 60 days (deadline reduced to 20 days for seasonal work) from the submission of the applications without the impeding reasons having emerged, the authorization is issued automatically and sent – electronically – to the Italian diplomatic representations of the countries of origin which will have to issue the entry visa. The authorization will also be sent automatically to the employer who will be able to view it on the Ministry of the Interior portal.

Starting at 9:00 AM, 25 March 2024, the applications for pre-compiling the application forms will be available at  https://portaleservizi.dlci.interno.it. An SPID or CIE identity is required for this portal.

Once the quota reserved primarily for seasonal work applications from employer organizations has been reached, the One Stop Shops for immigration issue authorizations for other seasonal work applications, according to the chronological order of arrival in the One Stop Shops’ computerized system.

Seasonal worker visa quota distribution for 2024

Following is the quota distribution of the seasonal work for Decreto Flussi 2024:

  • Citizens of countries with future immigration agreements: 12,000 entries
  • Citizens of states running campaigns against irregular migration trafficking: 3,000 entries
  • Stateless persons and refugees: 50 entries
  • Citizens of countries with migration and multi-seasonal agreements: 2,000 entries
  • Citizens of countries with immigration agreements in the agricultural sector (application submitted by employer associations): 41,000 entries
  • Citizens of countries with current immigration agreements in the tourism sector (application submitted by employer associations): 31,000 entries.

Priority for seasonal work visas
