Finally, the application dates are now open for the Decreto Flussi of Italy. This is most commonly known as seasonal and nonseasonal work visa programs. This program allows non-EU skilled and general labor workers to come to Italy and work in designated fields from eligible countries.
The online application portal for the Decreto Flussi 2023 can be accessed here.
According to official announcements, the Flow Decree will allow more than 4,50,000 foreign workers to Italy for the three years 2023-2025. Over the three years, these overall quotas are distributed as follows:
- 136,000 in 2023,
- 151,000 in 2024, and
- 165,000 in 2025.
Italy announced about a month ago that it would open accepting applications for the Decreto Flussi 2023 program for seasonal and nonseasonal work visas from the 2nd of December 2023. Since the online application portal is open, eligible candidates can apply for visa approvals with the help of their employers in Italy. The application portal will remain open till 31 December 2023.
For 2024 and 2025, the deadlines for submitting work authorization applications for entry within the quotas will begin at 9 a.m. on February 5, 7, and 12 depending on the breakdown by areas, and continue until the corresponding quotas are met or, in any case, by December 31 of each year.
Notably, the Flow Decree represents a departure from the previous practice of annual quotas, providing a comprehensive three-year forecast for 2023-2025. The government retains the authority to introduce additional quotas through subsequent legislation, as exemplified by the December 29, 2022 decree, which allocated 40,000 additional quotas for 2023 to the agriculture and tourism-hospitality sectors.
