How to apply for the visa?
The Visa application system is easy. Visa applications may only be lodged, examined, and decided upon by the Consulate in whose jurisdiction the applicant legally resides. A visa application lodged by a third-country national, legally present but not residing in its jurisdiction, may be accepted if the Central Visa Unit considers that the justification provided by the applicant on the submission of application to a particular Consulate of Malta, is both coherent and credible. In a country where Malta has no Consular Representation, an application may be submitted with the Consul of another Member State with which Malta has a bilateral agreement.
Steps to apply for the visa
- Fill in the visa application form
- Get the supporting documents ready
- Book/reserve the hotel
- Book/reserve the tickets
- Get the appointment from the Maltese Embassy/Consulate/VAC
- Submit the visa application by paying the fees
Visa processing time
Mostly, the visit visa application is processed within the period of two weeks. The duration of the verification for some applications is one month. But in rare cases, the verification took a maximum of 2 months.
So, if you are planning a trip to Malta, go for the applying process at least a month ago. Because there is no set-aside time idea about the verification period.
