Prince Edward Island offer international graduates an opportunity to apply for the permanent residency in the province. This not only allows them to stay longer there,but also to bring their family for settlement. The program is called “International Graduate Stream” for PEI Nominee Program. The major requirement for this stream is that the candidate must have graduated from publically funded post secondary institution of this province.
The program is employer-driven that allows local employers to recruit (in case locals are not available for the required job duties) foreigners staying in the province after their graduation.
There are major eligibility requirements to be met by the candidates to apply for the program as follows:
The candidate has a post-secondary degree or diploma from a publicly-funded Prince Edward Island institution
The candidate has a full-time, non-seasonal (i.e. permanent or minimum of two years) job offer from a PEI employer
Further requirements are that candidate:
- have sufficient financial resources to pay all immigration costs (including travel expenses) for you and your family to be able to establish in PEI; and
- be between the ages of 18 and 59
- demonstrate a genuine intention to settle in PEI
- be able to attend an interview with staff from the Office, if required
- possess sufficient English and/or French language ability to perform the job offered
- have a valid post-graduate work permit and legal status in Canada
Application fee
When you create your profile, it means you are showing your Expression of interest. Profile creation is free of cost. But when you are selected to apply for nomination by Prince Edward Island, you will pay CAD $ 300 (non-refundable). You will submit this fee online with your application. You should have an arrangement of a debit or credit card for the payment.
Application process
First of all, you need to check the eligibility criteria, if you meet it the next step is making a profile for this stream. You will create a profile in the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system. For profile creation you will need to provide:
- Your email address
- Your identification
- Your passport details
If your account has been verified, you can move to complete your profile. Candidates will only have one active profile at any one time. After registration, the further step is your invitation to apply. When you are invited to apply, you will be sent an email. In this email, you will find your profile number and guidelines for the submission of your application. When you have obtained an invitation to apply, you will need to complete the online forms.
Profile expiry/profile changes
The profile expires after six months of activation. As for as changes in your profile are concerned, yes you can also do changes in your profile. If your case situation changes prior to being invited to apply, you can add or delete information in your profile. If your case situation changes after being invited to apply, you will contact authorities with updated information, this may affect the decision of your file.

If you are selected to be nominated by PEI, you must accept online nominations through your MyCIC account. After being invited to apply by the IRCC, you must submit an electronic application for permanent residence through your MyCIC account with all supporting documents and fees. The IRCC is responsible for deciding all applications for permanent residence.
What is next after nomination?
When you receive a nomination, you should submit your application for permanent residency to IRCC along with your nomination certificate. Authorities will determine your application for your capability. Any changes you made in your profile/ application you will need to tell the authorities about these changes. these changes can be in the fields of :
- Your contact information
- You employment
- Your family status
Updating in your education/experience you will need to work with a single employer until you obtain your permanent residence. If any changes are made after nomination, you will notify the office of immigration and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada on the spot.
Your online application will be received by the Office as soon as you click submit and you will receive a secure link to upload your supporting documents within two business days of your submission. Once all of your scanned documents are uploaded, your application is considered complete and will begin processing. The application fee is $300 CAD.
