Countries with decreased rankings
Russia has dropped seven places from 38th to 45th, with visa-free access to 116 destinations. Venezuela has experienced the steepest decline, falling 17 places from 25th to 42nd in the last decade. The country faces significant challenges with an ongoing economic and political crisis. Presidential elections on July 28 could impact the millions of Venezuelans who have left the country in recent years.
Yemen has dropped 15 places to 100th, while Nigeria and Syria have each fallen 13 places to 92nd and 102nd, respectively. Bangladesh has also declined, moving down 11 places from 86th to 97th over the past decade.
Countries with increased ranking
China and Ukraine have also made notable progress in the rankings over the past decade. Since 2014, China has moved up 24 places from 83rd to 59th, allowing access to 85 destinations without a visa. Ukraine has climbed 23 places from 53rd to 30th, with its citizens able to visit 148 destinations visa-free.
The UAE has reached the Top 10 in the Henley Passport Index for the first time, with its citizens now able to travel to 185 destinations without a visa. This is a significant increase from 62nd place in 2006 to 9th place today.
