The new 2021-2027 Erasmus+ program has been launched with €28 billion to support mobility and learning

The new 2021-2027 Erasmus+ program has been launched. On 25 March Thursday, the commission started the 1st annual work program of Erasmus+ 2021-2027. The Erasmus+ program budget for 2021-2027 is €26.2 billion, compared with €14.7 billion for 2014-2020. The budget for the new Erasmus + program is almost double. With this budget increase, Erasmus+ will be more inclusive, greener, and more digital.

Mariya Gabriel (Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and youth commissioner) said: “The fact that the Erasmus+ budget for the next 7 years has almost doubled shows the importance given to education, lifelong learning and youth in Europe.”The current epidemic has exacerbated inequality, especially among young people. The principle of solidarity must be the driving force behind our actions here, and we are working with organizations that represent the people and work with those who have access to the program. There are fewer opportunities to help. I’m talking about people from socio-economic backgrounds, people living in rural areas, isolated people, or people with disabilities. For example, we cover the costs of people with disabilities”.

From 2014 to 2020, more than 4 million teachers and school staff traveled across Europe to meet their peers and peers from other countries and to participate in international activities, all of which are Erasmus + The program is funded. Erasmus also funds teacher mobility.

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus + represents one of the real efforts of the European Union to promote the globalization and modernization of schools. Teachers have taken this opportunity to take training courses abroad and learn new teaching strategies, develop innovative teaching tools, meet people of different nationalities and cultures, and practice a foreign language.

Erasmus + program 2021-2027

The Erasmus+2021-2027 program gives opportunities for study periods abroad, traineeships, apprenticeships, and staff exchanges in all categories of education, training, youth, and sport. It is open to school students, higher education and vocational education and training students, adult learners, youth exchanges, youth workers, and sports coaches.

In addition to mobility, which accounts for 70% of the budget, New Erasmus+ also invests in cross-border cooperation projects. These can be:

  • between higher education institutions (such as European universities)
  • Schools; Teacher Education and Training Colleges (such as Erasmus + Teacher Academies)
  • Adult Education Centers Youth and sports organizations
  • Providers of vocational education and training (such as vocational centers of excellence)

Within Erasmus +, the school network has also implemented international plans to promote innovation and share best practices at different levels of the school organization. Although for some teachers, joining the program has made it possible for them to travel to another European country for the first time, for many schools, it has also enabled them to complete medium- and long-term plans and pursue European careers.

Qualities of the Erasmus+ 2021 to 2027 plan

  • Inclusive Erasmus+
  • Digital Erasmus+
  • Green Erasmus+
  1. Inclusive Erasmus+

The program is giving great opportunities to people with fewer opportunities, including people with various cultural, social, and economic surroundings and people living in rural and urban destinations. The new program consists of individual and group exchanges between school students and mobility for adult trainees. It will be convenient for little institutions, for example, schools, youth associations, and sports clubs to participate. Thanks to small-scale partnerships and the use of simplified grant applications.

Erasmus+ 2021-2027 is expecting to be more global, permitting cooperation with third countries, building on the successes of the prior program with transition and cooperation plans around the world.

2.Digital Erasmus+

Erasmus+ program will improve the progress of digital skills in line with the Digital Education Action program. In fact, COVID-19 reminds us of the importance of promoting the digital transition of education and training systems. The new Erasmus+ program will give top-quality digital training and exchanges through tracks for example eTwinning, School Education Gateway, and the European Youth Portal and it will motivate traineeships in the digital fields. New plans for example blended intensive programs, will permit short-term physical mobility abroad to be complemented with online learning and group work. The implementation of the project will be more digitalized and easier with the complete roll-out of the European Student Card.

  1. Green Erasmus+

In the context of the “European Green Deal”, the project will provide financial incentives to participants using sustainable ways of transport. This program will invest in plans promoting awareness of environmental complications and facilitate exchanges related to mitigating the climate crises.
