The US Government will give $15,600 to each non documented immigrant

Relaunching of IDNYC centers in New York for the assistance of uncertificated foreign citizens through a total of $2.1 billion of aid

The undocumented immigrants living in New York lost their jobs and were unable to earn due to COVID-19 lockdowns. They faced a lot of hurdles at that time. They were unqualified to apply for any monetary aid in the pandemic situation because of having no legal status in the U.S. Due to this, they were ineligible to get the IDNYC card required to attain the funds.

Now, New York is relaunching 5 IDNYC centers that were closed due to COVID-19.  The new 6 centers are also being launched for undocumented immigrants. There will be a total of 13 centers of IDNYC  in the city. Undocumented immigrants will apply for a card to get monetary aid from the government. A total of $2.1 billion contributions is specified for them. From $2.1 billion, $15,1600 will be specified for employers who were ineligible for the funds during the pandemic after losing jobs.

New Yorkers can update their IDNYC if expired online and make an appointment to get one at an enrollment center by calling 311 or visiting nyc.gov/IDNYC.

The number of undocumented immigrants who need assistance on an urgent basis in the state is 290,000. About 213,000 of this are residents of New York. Also, 58,000 residents (Queens residents) are needy for this assistance and they will be eligible without any restriction.

It is sourced from the Fiscal Policy Institute, the proper procedure for the acceptance of the application for an IDNYC card will start from August of this year.

What advantages does an IDNYC card offer?

The undocumented immigrants of New York will enjoy these facilities after getting an IDNYC card:

  • Montreal aids;
  • No restrictions to open a bank account;
  • Any campaign that requires an IDNYC card will be reachable for them. For example, a visit to the schools of their children.

Procedure to get IDNYC card

The procedure for it is so basic. The undocumented immigrants will go to the center and request for the issuance of an IDNYC card for them. The best thing is, they will not require any residence or work permit for the issuance of an IDNYC card.

State Sen. Jessica Ramos, who led the way for this project in the senate, admired the relaunching of an IDNYC center by saying, “ IDNYC will work as a certificate for those who faced a lot of hurdles in this pandemic like loss of works and ineligibility for the funds. Now, they will get what they deserve in this city. This will permit them to apply easily for monetary aids. It is now important for New York to increase the availability of the IDNYC centers and designations for the applicants.”

Arlenis the Morel,  co-executive director who made the New York road, has also discussed the IDNCY cards. She said, “ The development of more IDNYC centers has increased the responsibility to give the funds to those who deserve that.” She further said, “ This scheme is specified for those who were struggling on the roads for their livings when all of us were safely quarantined at home. Those citizens who were ineligible for the funds in the past will be given the Montreal aids safely from the authorities by this scheme.”

Catalina Cruz, an Assemblymember, also talked about the IDNYC centers. She said, “ This project is going to be a lifesaver for undocumented immigrants of New York.”
