Canada has outclassed once again other countries in terms of the most famous and wanted country for workers. The United States has lost its top position as expected. The UK, Germany, Australia, and the US have also made it to the top 5 lists. A study by the Boston Consultancy Group and The Network has been released for the top destinations that the number of people looks for work.
A study consists of 209,000 employees from 190 different countries chose the following countries as the top 10 destinations for workers:
- Canada
- US
- Australia
- Germany
- UK
- Japan
- Switzerland
- Singapore
- France
- New Zealand
The study surprised as Italy and Spain even could not make it up to the top 10 list. On the other hand, Germany and France were also affected by this change and fell two places. Japan remains a good and famous destination for international workers whereas surprisingly New Zealand and Singapore made it the first time to the top 10 list.
Overall, fewer people are willing now to move abroad and work there. The major reason is surely the pandemic, travel restrictions, work visa issues, and reformed immigration rules that have affected the behavior and the way people are treating their careers. Only 50% of the survey participants showed a willingness to work abroad in comparison with 57% in 2018. But on the other hand, the individual countries showed different trends. Sudan topped the list for most interested people to work abroad with 94%. Indian remained in the top 10 too with 87% (a 5% less than last year). Whereas in Pakistan, the trend remained increasing 83% (a 5% increase than last year). Surprisingly, the people of Italy, Sweden, Qatar, Brazil also showed great interest to work abroad by making it to top10 list.
As a result, online working is increasing to its boom. Moreover, countries with less Covid infection rates, have been able to attract more international workers.
The openness to remote and online work is highly increasing. The US remains at the top (chosen by 25% of participants) as a choice for online workers while staying in their country. Australia and Canada attract the same number of people for remote working (22%). Italy, Spain, Norway, and Finland could not even make it to the top 10 list. Japan, Singapore, and Austria were surprisingly chosen by 11%, 9%, and 9% respectively.
Almost 71% of people with digital or analytics backgrounds said they would prefer to work online and 67% agreed with it too with IT and technology backgrounds.
