Starting 15th July, the UK has officially introduced digital eVisas for most Pakistani citizens applying for study or work-related visas. This means you no longer need a physical sticker visa in your passport.
The shift to eVisas is part of the UK’s plan for a modern, secure, and streamlined immigration system. For Pakistanis, this means faster processing, easier travel, and less paperwork.
The UK eVisa for Pakistanis is a welcome step into the future — digital, convenient, and built for real-life ease.
What is a UK eVisa?
The UK eVisa is a secure digital record of your immigration status in the UK. It replaces the traditional visa sticker and can be viewed and managed online through a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.
Undoubtedly, for Pakistani applicants, this is a major improvement — no more waiting for a visa sticker, and no risk of damage or loss as confirmed in an official announcement by the Gov.uk.
Who Can Get a UK eVisa?
The new UK eVisa for Pakistanis is available to main applicants under these visa categories:
- Students, including short-term (up to 11 months)
- Skilled Workers, including Health and Care
- Global Talent
- Global Business Mobility (e.g., Graduate Trainee, Senior Specialist)
- Temporary Workers (Creative, Charity, Religious, and more)
- International Sportspersons
- Youth Mobility Scheme
Note: Dependants and visitor visa applicants will still need a physical visa for now.
How to apply for the eVisa?
You can apply for the UK eVisa from Pakistan by following the steps below:
- Apply for your visa through the UKVI website.
- Create a UKVI account.
- Link your passport to your account.
- Use the “View and Prove” tool to securely share your visa status with employers, landlords, and authorities.
If you have already had a valid visa sticker? No need to take action — your visa is still valid.
