To have their petitions considered, those who were chosen in the H-1B visa lottery need to file by June 30. Only petitioners with selected registrations can file H-1B cap-subject petitions for the person named in the selected registration notice as all other applications will not be considered legit.
USCIS may also consider conducting the second round of selection for the H-1B fiscal year 2025 which is now not clear. In April, USCIS announced the H-1B visa cap registration process updated for 2025.
Out of 120,603 selected registrations, there were 114,017 candidates for initial selection including the master’s cap.

The registration portal was open from 6 March 2024 till 26 March 2024 which means the registration pool is closed for the fiscal year 2025. This year saw a slight decrease in the number of beneficiary registrations.
The total number reached 442,000 which is way less than of previous year. Overall, a total of 479,953 total registrations were received to USCIS for FY 2025 compared to 780,884 for FY 2024.
