It’s great news that Western Australia has added more occupations to the list for permanent residency eligibility programs. Western Australia: the Kalgoorlie Goldfields DAMA program adds 50 more occupations to provide permanent residency.
For the second year in a row, the Western Australia Designated Migration Agreement for the Calgary Goldfields has been updated to include more than 50 occupations. Some of them are not currently on Australia and New Zealand’s standard list (ANZSCO). The Goldfields DAMA requires the workers to work and live in the region in the same occupation for a certain period. A permanent residency sponsorship is an employer’s choice. The Goldfields DAR does not offer job-matching services to potential skilled migrants. It is up to the individual to reach out to businesses, and apply for the jobs directly.
In 2021, the Kalgoorlie Goldfields DAMA program has reached 122 eligible occupations for sponsorship. Previously, these occupations were 72 till 2020. You may be eligible for level 2 to 4 if your age is 49 at the time of permanent residency nomination. For level 1 the age limit is 54 years at the time of permanent residency nomination.

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Australian Government have reached an agreement on the Goldfields Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), which was approved by Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, David Coleman, in March 2019. The Calgary Goldfields Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) in Western Australia has been increased to cover more than 50 occupations and three new shires. These professions can provide a track to permanent residency for Goldfields DAMA visa holders. In the current year, the shires of Dundas, Esperance, and Ravensthorpe have also joined the program.
Several states and territories have negotiated agreements with the Commonwealth government to address labor shortages through local businesses.”These are labor agreements negotiated between the Department of Home affairs and individual states and territories. - Aged or Disabled Carer
- Family Day Care Educator
- Child Care Worker
- Beef Cattle Farmer
- Slaughterer
- Agricultural and Horticultural Mobile Plant Operator
- Shearer
- Personal Care Assistant
- Nursing support worker
- Meat Boner and Slicer

The new occupations added to the Kalgoorlie Goldfields DAMA program are not included in Australia and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupation (ANZSCO).
DAMA are either granted a labor agreement stream of the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482), Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186), or the Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (Provisional) (SESR) visa (subclass 494).
A TSS visa does not have an age limit, however, employers and workers aspiring to access the permanent residence pathway through an ENS or SESR visa must be aware that this has an age limit of 49 years old (cannot have turned 50) for skill level 2 to 4 occupation, or an age limit of 54 years old (cannot have turned 55) for skill level 1 occupation at the time of permanent residency nomination.
