In the latest “Express Entry Round of Invitations” draw, the IRCC has issued 2,985 candidates invitations to apply (ITAs). The comprehensive ranking system score (CRS) to issue the invitation remained at 676.
For this draw, the candidate was chosen from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This is the time since Canada introduced a category-based draw system, and a program-based draw has been released. This means it is the first sole program-based PNP draw of 2024.
This year, IRCC has only issued draws on category bases such as:
- General;
- STEM;
- French Language proficiency;
- Healthcare occupations;
- Transport occupations; and
- Agriculture and agri-food occupations.
So this time, a program-based draw (PNP) is a surprise. A program-based draw means the candidates are chosen from a specific program pool such as PNP or CEC.
The last draw was held on 24 April 2024 in which 1,400 candidates were invited to apply for the PR under the “French Language Proficiency” category stream. After that, IRCC paused for 5 weeks since the latest draw was issued. No explanation has been provided by the department about the long pause. In April on the contrary, the department issued 4 draws.
After receiving the invitation to apply, the selected candidates have 60 days to apply for the permanent residence.
