Canada issues invitations to apply in the first Express Entry draw of July

IRCC issues July’s first Express Entry Draw under the Provincial Nominee Program. In total, 920 candidates were issued invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The successful candidates from PNP had to score 739 to be invited. They now have 60 days to apply for the PR. This is the PNP draw which has the highest CRS score requirements compared with the first two draws from the same category.

This is overall the third PNP draw in this year as IRCC took about a year when it first issued the first draw in 2024 from this stream. This was released on 30 May in which 2,985 candidates were chosen. The second PNP draw was held on 19 June in which 1,499 candidates got invitations to apply. The CRS scores remained at 676 and 633 respectively.

What is PNP?

There are 10 Canadian provinces, with three territories to the north. The provinces are Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The three territories are Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.

PNP currently has about 80 unique streams in the participating provinces and territories. The chosen candidates through this category get 600 CRS extra points.

To apply under the PNP program, the candidates either directly apply through immigration of the provinces and are nominated or they apply directly under the Express Entry program and choose the desired provinces they want to settle in to be nominated.
