President Trump Extends Freeze On Many Worker Visas – US Visa sanctions continue

The US extends visa sanctions till 31 March 2021.

President Trump is pushing for new temporary work visas for tech and other highly skilled workers. Millions of foreigners seeking jobs in the United States are expected to enter the country at least by the end of March.

Which visa streams are affected?

The nonimmigrant suspension applies to:

  • applicants for H-1B, H-2B, and L-1 visas; J-1 visa applicants participating in the intern, trainee, teacher, camp counselor, au pair, and summer work travel programs; and any spouses or children of covered applicants applying for H-4, L-2, or J-2 visas.
  • Seasonal employees in the tourism industry
  • Some distinct couples on Jay One visa

Mr. Trump ordered a freeze on a range of work visas in April and June last year. Hours before the freeze expires on December 31, he issued an announcement to extend it till March 31.

The current Trump administration believes the move was necessary to help millions of Americans lose their jobs due to the current economic crisis. Trump signed the original announcement in June, citing the need to protect the US workforce during coronavirus epidemics.

The H-1B visa

The H-1B visa is a nonimmigrant visa that approves U.S. organizations to hire overseas employees in specialized occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. Technology companies rely on hiring thousands of employees every year from international locations like India and China. It is clear how the Trump administration is attempting to confuse the president-elect with policies that challenge Biden. It was an extension of Trump’s first “Buy American, Higher American” government order, which called on federal agencies to take tougher action to enforce immigration laws to protect American workers.

Future expectations under Biden’s presidency

The US is likely to change its immigration policy after the new president takes on charge. The US immigration policy changes are expected by President-elect Joe Biden. According to the experts, there would be a stark contrast between president trump and Biden’s immigration policies.

Indians are likely to enjoy the H1b visa with more numbers. After the new policy, Biden would return many of the same immigration policies in place during the Obama administration. This will include protecting and expanding the DACA program accepting at least 125000 immigrants annually and seeking a general pardon for 11 million illegal aliens.

Biden appears committed to resolving immigration issues. He wants to increase the number of immigrants in the United States under his administration. He is ready to protect refugees and wants to give them the rights they deserve according to Michele Waslin, the program coordinator at the institute for immigration research. Policies that have been changed by rules and regulations will likely require new regulations and a new period of public comment Waslin said. Undoing other policies is a complex procedure new administration wants amendment in the following points:

  • travel restrictions
  • changes to immigration enforcement priorities and consistently lower immigration caps
  • change is the restoration of asylum rules an emergency announcement to build a border wall presidential announcement and executive arrangements can be revoked by the new president

In many cases, this change will not happen immediately because people will need to be hired in agencies to update the guidance and field manual, and plan to implement these changes she said. President-elect Joe Biden’s incoming administration could rapidly change president Donald Trump’s immigration policies which Biden considers President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. Controversial measures of his administration expected changes in Joe Biden’s initial days.

Under the Trump administration, most citizens of some countries were barred from traveling to the United States. Initially, sanctions targeted citizens of some Muslim-majority countries but were expanded to include other countries that view Washington as a security threat. In the early days. Biden is expected to rescind these orders.

Experts believe that the new management will reopen the DACA (deferred action for childhood arrivals) program for all eligible applicants. The US citizenship and immigration services (USCIS) stopped accepting new DACA applications under the trump command. Trump’s government presented a plan promising a fair modern and legal review of the US immigration system. It did not pay attention to the DACA program and congress did not implement it.

DACA program

This program is deferred action for childhood arrivals that allows some individuals with unlawful presence in the united states after being brought to the country as children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and become eligible for a work permit in the U.S.

Public Charges

All of Biden’s interviews so far have shown good progress on immigration measures. Biden has also pledged to pass congressional legislation to legalize many uncertified immigrants in the country. The public charge principle or wealth test as critics call it seeks to determine whether immigrants will trust us public aid programs.

A public charge is defined as a stranger who has received one or more public benefits as stated in the rule or more than 12 months in any 36 month period. However, receiving public benefits does not automatically make it possible for an individual to become a public beneficiary

Refugee Program

The United States has welcomed large numbers of immigrants. The United States has taken in tens of thousands of refugees over the years but enrollment in the Trump administration has reached a record low Biden is expected to increase the number of refugees for the next financial year the trump government set it at 15000 during the campaign Biden promised to welcome 125000 immigrants.
