The Canadian Immigration Department has issued 500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry Draw for Health Professions, marking a significant development in Canada’s category-based immigration strategy for 2025.
This latest draw specifically targeted candidates in healthcare and social services—a sector given increasing priority since February 2025, when new social services occupations were added to the eligible category.

First Healthcare Draw After Major Update
This draw is particularly notable as it is the first healthcare-targeted draw since IRCC expanded the category in February 2025 to include various social services occupations, such as:
- Social workers;
- Early childhood educators;
- Home support workers.
With a cut-off score of 510, it also stands as the highest CRS requirement for a healthcare draw to date.
Express Entry Trends in 2025
So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 33,429 ITAs. Most of these invitations have been extended to:
- PNP candidates;
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applicants; and
- Candidates from IRCC’s priority categories, including healthcare, education, STEM, and trades.
