Italy has made immense changes in the Decreto Flussi 2024 regarding application dates. The Ministry of the Interior, Department of Civil Liberties and Immigration, has communicated the postponement of the dates scheduled for sending applications for the 2024 Flows Decree, relating to foreign workers’ legal entry into Italy. Initially, the Decreto Flussi admission date was set for February 2024, but now it has been arranged in March starting on 18 March 2024.
Initially scheduled for February, the deadlines for submitting requests have been extended by over a month and reformulated according to the following calendar:
- 9:00 on March 25th: Starting date and time for the applications for seasonal workers;
- on March 18 from 9:00 applications for non-seasonal subordinate workers who are citizens of countries that have cooperation agreements with Italy can be sent;
- on March 21 from 9:00 applications for other non-seasonal subordinate workers (including in the family and social-health care sectors) can be sent.
There have been set aside numbers for the Decreto Flussi 2024 which are 151,000. The category details are as follows:
- Seasonal Work: 89,050
- 1,950 workers will be allowed, including 61,250 for employment and 700 for self-employment.
On October 3, 2023, the Prime Minister’s Decree, commonly known as the Flow Decree, was officially published in the Government Gazette, outlining the plan for the legal entry of foreign workers into Italy for the period of 2023-2025. This decree establishes entry quotas and regulations governing the arrival of foreign labor for each year. The issuance of this decree follows the guidelines outlined in Legislative Decree No. 20 of March 10, 2023, also known as the Cutro Decree, which introduced several changes to Italian immigration law (Decree 286/1998).
