Ontario Opens EOI Immigration System for In-Demand Skills Stream

Ontario province has opened expression of interest (EOI) for the most popular immigration stream, “In-Demand Skills Stream” as promised. Now the province, under its provincial nominee (PNP) program has so far opened three streams; foreign workers, international students, and In-Demand Skills through a new EOI application portal.

Canadian province Ontario first announced opening Expression of Interest (EOI) for its 5 economic class immigration streams in March. These all are as follows:

Now only two streams, Masters’ Graduates and Ph.D. Graduates’ streams are left over to be included in the EOI system.

Expression of interest (EOI) is an opportunity to present yourself in a clear, professional document. This is an important opportunity to provide and demonstrate your suitability, interest, availability in this position.

The Federal Government of Canada permitting Ontario to issue 8,350 nominations in 2021, and additional 250 nominations for temporary foreign workers with minimum National Occupational Classification (NOC) skilled level. Despite the covid 19 first wave in 2019, Ontario issued 7,391 nominations, and 8,054 in 2020 when the whole world was shut off. According to the immigration minister, Vic Fedeli, Ontario will issue 13,300 nominations in 2022, because Ontario Immigrants Nominations Program (OINP) is developing by leaps and bounds.

How to apply through the OINP EOI system?

Applying for the new EOI system may seem complicated at first but it is actually not. The system is currently for 3 streams open that can be used as follows:

Registration

  • The first step is your registration;
  • After registration, your profile will be thrown in a selection pool and given a score based on your answers.

Getting Invitation to apply (ITA)

The eligible candidates will be invited to apply after selection for a provincial nomination;

The confirmation of your EOI registration does not assure you that you will get an ITA invitation to apply;

The OINP will inform the candidate or his representative if he is invited through an ITA.

The important thing is that the candidate can only register 1 EOI profile at any given time. He should provide true and accurate information. You can update the profile at any time, you must inform the authorities when you update your information or add any document.

ITA Validity

An EOI registration is legitimate/valid for 1 year or until the candidate obtains an invitation.

Registration cost

The process till registration is free of cost, but when you are invited to apply you have to pay the application fee along with your application.

When a candidate gets an ITA, it does not mean that he has obtained the provincial nomination. Acutely the candidate is required to fulfill all the eligibility criteria for the chosen category.
